Craig Wright - Saints Rugby Player Assembly 10.05.24

Dear Families

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend and got to do something nice when the sun was shining? Did anyone visit one of our House woodlands?

It’s been a quieter week here in school but still packed full of learning and laughter.

Did you notice our PCSO patrolling this week to help us keep our roads and carpark safe? We are still trying to do everything we can to improve our parking situation and want to thank all of those families who, every day, park safely, sensible and considerately.

Assembly

On Wednesday, we had a very special assembly with an inspirational visitor. Craig Wright from the Saints came to visit us and led a question and answer session with our children. The children were enthralled to learn all about Craig and asked some fantastic questions like:

  • How did you get into playing rugby?
  • Who inspired you to play rugby?
  • Who believed in you the most?

Craig was very inspiring and really demonstrated our value of ‘work hard’ and ‘believe’. We hope to see him representing Northampton Saints and England in the future!

Thank you Mr Clarke for organising.

Census Day is DINOSAUR DAY

On Thursday 16th May, it is our school Census Day. On this day, please can every family in EYFS and KS1 order a school lunch (even if they also bring a packed lunch and eat that instead). A lot of our school budget is set on Census days so the more meals ordered the better!

Cosy Corner

This week we held our second Cosy Corner session.

We are very fortunate (via Indy Jutla, the head of our FEHPS) to have secured some funding to run a project called Cosy Corner. It is all about uniting the more senior members of our community with our younger generation. During the sessions, the children get to play games and there are quite a few cakes and cups of tea consumed. Our next Cosy Corner sessions are on:

4th June and 20th June

so if you know of anyone who you feel might like to come along, please do let them know. Booking links are also on our website/Facebook page.

Leading on initiatives such as this is all form part of our ‘Beyond the Curriculum’ work and our “Our World” curriculum team.

Earth Day Creative Creations

Have you seen our amazing art work and creative creations as part of our learning from Earth Day? In the near future some of them are going to be displayed at Hunsbury Library - why not pop in to see them and choose a book or two?

Governor Monitoring

Last Friday, our Governors were in monitoring the teaching and learning across the school with a special focus on writing. This is always a very productive and evaluative session for us as we love to reflect on what we are doing, how we are doing it and our next steps. Thank you to all of our Governors and welcome, once again to Madeline, who is our new co-opted Governor, and Natalie, who is our newly elected parent governor.

SATs

Next week is the national Key Stage 2 SATS (Standardised Assessment Tests) and I wanted to wish all of our Year 6 children the very, very best.

They have worked hard so now it is time to believe in themselves.

Over the next week you will no doubt see lots of social media posts all about the things that the SATs do not test in our young people like: creativity, kindness, sportsmanship, effort, musicianship and artistic skills. Here at EHPS we know that our children are simply BRILLIANT allrounders and that these tests are just a snap shot of a very small element of their capabilities and lives so we hope that they know that, no matter what, we are all very proud of them – good luck year 6! We believe in you!

Parent Survey

If you haven’t already, please complete our parent survey which is available here. Your views really do help us shape the direction of what we do. Thank you.

Sports Day

Have you all pencilled in your child’s Sport’s Day Dates? If not, here they are:

Reception - 13th June 9.30am - 11am
Year 1 - 10th June 1.30pm - 3pm including New Uniform for sale
Year 2 - 20th June 1.30pm - 3pm
Year 3 - 12th June 1.30 - 3pm including New Uniform for sale
Year 4 - 19th June 1.30pm - 3pm
Year 5 - 5th July 1.30 - 3pm
Year 6 - 14th June 1.30 - 3pm

After feedback, we are going to try running the sports days in Year Groups.

Please note, that in the event of the bad weather, we will probably shorten the session and move into the school hall (we will try and communicate this as best as we can but please keep your fingers and toes crossed for dry weather).

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Ms Pennington
