Earth Days 25.04.25

Dear Families

Welcome to the Summer Term! Our third and final term is upon us, and we are really excited about everything we have coming up.

Assembly - Logos

We started the week with our welcome back assembly and shared with the children that we will be changing our school logo (please refer to the parent letter that went out on Wednesday)!

We are really excited about this opportunity to explore our current school identity and allow the children to be a part of it. As a school we feel that our currently logo doesn’t really capture who are as much anymore; however, we love that it is designed by children and it is this that we want to ensure happens again. We have asked all children to draw or write any words that they feel represents EHPS. They can design a logo if they wish or simply list words or pictures which they feel are important to EHPS. We will then share these with our School Parliament who will work with a local designer to support us in the creation of a new logo.

Please do not worry about school uniform – we are working closely with our provider and it will be a while before our new logo will be ready or even launched (probably not until September 2026) and we will always be happy for children to wear uniform with the current logo on. At no point will there be a: ‘you must wear the new logo,’ as we appreciate that siblings may wear each other’s uniform for some years to come.

Equality and Diversity

During the assembly, I also talked to the children about what Equality and Diversity means. Our School Parliament is working hard on a child friendly version of our policy which can be found here and as part of this work we will be designing our own Inclusion, Equality and Diversity logo.

Anyway… watch this space… we will keep you updated every step of the way regarding our logos.

Earth Days

We marked and celebrated Earth Day this week. This initiative is led by Hannah Davison as part of Earthday.org and, after the success of last year, we were keen to do it again.

This year’s theme is Our Power, Our Planet. Across the school, classes have been learning all about our Earth and taking part in lots of activities and creative learning with focuses on renewable energy, the importance of pollinators and the impact a clean environment can have on wildlife.

Assessments

This term, we have lots of national assessments happening:

  • KS2 SATs (in Reading, Maths and Spelling Punctuation and Grammar) 12 - 15th May
  • Year 1 phonics w/c 9th June
  • Year 4 multiplication 2 - 13th June

Please make sure that if you have a child in one of these year groups you are aware of what these tests will entail and they are present during the week for them.

Check the dates

As we are now in a new term, please check the back of this newsletter for key dates such as your child’s sports’ day, transfer day, summer fete, assemblies and other things that are coming up.

Contacting teachers

Finally, a gentle reminder to avoid whenever possible contacting your child’s class teacher after 5:30pm or before 7:30am as this is precious time they will be with their families. Many email platforms etc have a ‘schedule later’ function.

Next week, we are excited to welcome NMPAT string recital and continue with our new learning! Bring on the summer term…!

Have a super weekend everyone

Ms Pennington
