“The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.” Sydney J. Harris
Our school is an inclusive school. Our inclusive ethos and culture is built upon our 3 Values and 3 Rules which are:
- Values: Be Kind. Work Hard. Believe.
- Rules: Be Ready. Be Respectful. Be Safe.
Our aim is to develop a sense of belonging amongst our school community. A community where all of our children and their families feel respected, valued and cherished whilst being their authentic selves. We recognise the entitlement of all pupils to a balanced, broadly-based curriculum, that is why our curriculum, including its implementation, is inclusive by design.
In order to achieve this, we have set the following equality objectives for 2025-2029:
1. To Embed Equality Training for Staff and Governors on Equality and Non-Discrimination
2. To Further Develop a Diverse and Representative Curriculum
3. To Promote Kindness, Tolerance and Respect Among All of Our Communities
4. To Enhance Parental Involvement and Inclusion
Furthermore, we have systems in place for early identification of barriers to children’s learning and participation so they can engage in school activities with all other pupils. We acknowledge the need for high expectations and developing aspirations amongst our children.
We actively encourage equity and equality through our work. No gender, race, creed or ethnicity will be discriminated against. The use of stereotypes under any of the above headings will always be challenged and are proud to celebrate our differences.
Through our curriculum and wider opportunities such as assemblies, we teach children about protected characteristics and British Values:
The above enables us to comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), in line with the Equalities Act 2010.
