The information below sets out to all our parents what can be expected from East Hunsbury Primary School when the school may have to close unexpectantly, for example when not enough staff can come into school because of snow.
It is always our commitment to ensure that children’s learning continues no matter what, and we will always try to avoid a school closure. However, sometimes they are unavoidable, for example, in situations such as extreme and bad weather or an unforeseen problem like a water leak.
In the event that we need to close the school, parents will be informed by 7:45 AM at the latest, via email and ClassDojo.
SINGLE SCHOOL DAY CLOSURE e.g. Snow Day
On the very rare occasion the school will close on one or two days e.g. due to snow, any tasks, learning or activities for your child’s class will be shared via Class Dojo but please find here some Winter English Activity Booklets if you want to download them to be prepared.

REMOTE LEARNING
Sometimes, there are occasions where children are unable to access school. This could be because of an illness or another reason. Therefore, if the school has to close for an extended period of time, or a child is unable to attend school for an extended period of time, a remote learning provision will be employed.
Whilst remote learning will follow a very similar structure to our COVID-19 pandemic organisation, it will be adapted to the needs of individual children or the situation. You can read more about it by clicking here.
In the meantime…
Whilst you are waiting for learning tasks to arrive, you can still access learning for your child via The Oak Academy. This is a government established school, which is recommended by the DfE to use in cases of school closure.
Many schools are using this resource and it is particularly useful for parents who are seeking teacher led learning. You just need to select your child’s year group and there are activities and learning for your child to take part in.
Another excellent resource is the BBC Bitesize website. The children are familiar with this website and their activities are bright and engaging. Again, select your child’s key stage and then subject you would like to learn.
If you have any questions about remote learning at EHPS please contact your child’s class teacher or, Kathryn Pennington – Headteacher by calling the school office on 01604 677970.
