Dear Families
Another week has passed and the nights are certainly drawing in but our learning and fun continues. As the weather is certainly chiller now, please ensure your children come to school in warm clothing which is all named (our lost property is growing!).
This week our school Christmas tree arrived! A huge thank you to Ian at Acorn (MK) Nurseries for organising the tree and delivery of it. It will be decorated in time for our Christmas Fair.
Assembly
This week’s assembly was a class assembly in which the children discussed our school value of ‘Work Hard’ – they explored the words resilience and dedication. They also reflected on What Works Well (WWW) in our school and Even Better If (EBI) – Even better If we did these things… Pupil voice is really important to the senior leadership team as hearing what the children believe is going well and the improvements that we could make helps us decide on our next steps.
House Event
On Tuesday, it was our House Event where the children got together to make Christmas decorations for our trees which will be displayed in St Benedict’s Church this weekend 30th Nov/1st Dec between 11am and 3pm. The Specialist Unit House Captains decorated the trees on Thursday. This year our decorations were… BOOKMARKS! We love reading so much we thought that this was really fitting.
Children finished one of these sentences:
Peace is…
Kindness is…
Respect is…
which fits in with the spirit of Christmas time but also our school values and rules. Maybe this is something you would like to do at home.
Walk in Wednesday
This Wednesday was our second Walk in Wednesday and once again it was wonderful to see the corridors full of families. This time we focussed on Christmas crafting. Please know that we always make sure all children are included, whether a family member is there or not.
Monitoring visit
Also, on Wednesday we welcomed Mark Rapps from our Central Trust team who came in to school to help monitor and evaluate, ‘How we do it here…’ It is such a beneficial opportunity for us to welcome external eyes to always reflect on how we could do it better. He toured all of the classes and worked with the Senior Leadership Team and left very pleased with what he saw.
E-Safety Information Evening – keeping children safe online.
On Wednesday, we were due to hold our biannual E-Safety information session for parents and carers. Unfortunately, we had to cancel this session for reasons beyond our control.
As you are aware, our children are growing up in an ever-changing digital world and it is imperative that, as their guardians, we know how to keep them safe online. Sadly, we find that as children get older and have access to more devices which allow them online they experience issues – whether that is accessing inappropriate content, being on a device too late or too much or witnessing/experiencing unkindness. Whilst we wait to rearrange the session, if you would like to know more or require support in this area, please see Carol Lampard, our E-Safety and Computing lead.
Finally, thank you everyone who came in mufti today and brought something for our legendary Christmas hampers – the raffle will be drawn on December 7th at our Christmas Fair.
Have a super weekend,
Ms Pennington
P.S. If you are a parent/carer in Year 4, please make sure you attend our multiplication evening on Monday (see your child’s class teacher for more information).
