SU Show 04.04.25

Dear Families,

It’s the end of Spring 2 – can you believe it? Which means after the Easter holidays, we will be in the third and final term of this academic year! On our return it will also mark 3 years since I became the proud Headteacher of East Hunsbury Primary School! Time really does fly…

Today also marks the end of Autism Acceptance Week and as an inclusive school who loves to celebrate differences and ensure all children feel seen, represented and valued, it was brilliant to see the array of brightly coloured clothes around the school.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who attended our Easter café on Saturday. It was an amazing event filled with egg hunting and lots of chocolate and cake! Thank you to the FEHPS who made the event so successful and to you who came and spent your money. I am really pleased to share that we made a whopping £1300 - every penny of which will go back to your children and their education – thank you!

Wedding Bells

Did you know Mr Clarke is getting married to Mamie on April 12th ? We wish him the very best and look forward to seeing the wedding photos on return!

Uniform

A gentle reminder about our school uniform expectations which can be found in the policy but please note, as stated in our policy, that PE trainers must be:

  • Plain black trainers or white trainers (no bright laces, logos or soles).

We are noticing a few ‘fashion’ trainers creep in which do not meet our expectations.

Similarly, school shoes must be:

  • Flat-heeled black shoes that are polishable (not trainers or fashion shoe e.g. vans, Nike, canvas etc.) Sensible, plain black ankle boots are also allowed.

Please chat to your child’s class teacher if you need any clarification.

Assembly

As usual, it was our favourite assembly of the term – CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY! In this assembly we congratulate all of the children who have been working hard and showing us their best. Well done to all of the children who received a certificate, badge or award. A special well done to our Class Community Champions who are:

All of whom get to take home the much-coveted Community Cup trophy. I know that I speak on behalf of all of my staff who are very proud of each and every child! It’s a joy to celebrate them.

Hotshots Super Stars

Well done to our Hotshots Players who, last weekend, played in several tournaments. I am thrilled to announce that our Year 3 & 4 children WON their tournament and Year 5 & 6 came second which meant that they qualified for the county finals! WOW! We are all very proud of you.

On Monday, Year 1 went off to Holdenby to take part in a range of activities at Muddy Education. A fantastic day was had by all and the children got to do things like Nature Weaving and Den building. The trip complemented the children’s work in science brilliantly!

School of Life

On Tuesday, some of our children were off to visit our local seniors once again as part of our School of Life project – these visits are always a rich and wonderful experience for all who take part.

Show Time!

Wednesday was an extra special day as it was our Special Unit’s big show-stopping show! This year’s show was based on the book 'You Choose' written by Nick Sharrett and it really was truly amazing! The talent of our young people simply shone out from the singing to the dancing – it was BRILLIANT! So much hard work goes into a show such as this – therefore the staff and children deserve a massive thank you for all of their efforts!

EHPS Rocks!

And there is more super-stardom… on Thursday we had a rock concert from our iRock bands! The roof was raised and everyone enjoyed themselves. If your child is interested in attending iRock club please click here to enrol.

Also on Thursday, our KS2 drama club, expertly led by Mrs Robinson, did their performance of Oliver to the whole school. Once again, it was another stunning performance and it was fantastic to see the children talents flow. Here are some photos from the dress rehearsal.

Radio Northampton

Radio Northampton paid us a visit on Thursday, as part of radio Northampton’s work raising awareness of mental health, they visited our school to watch a PSHE+C  lesson taught by Mrs Roberts. They recorded some sound bites and even spoke to some children – it was a brilliant experience and we are proud to be involved in raising the awareness of such important issues. Make sure that you are listening during mental health awareness week (12th - 18th May,) as extracts from the session will be played out as part of their celebrations! We will update you on Dojo when we have more information about when it will be played.

From rock concerts to, radio shows to stage performances, we really do have a talented bunch of children here at EHPS and I am sure that we will see some them on a West End stage one day!

Reports

This week your child will have received their Spring Term report – if you have any questions about anything that is on it, please do not hesitate to talk to your child’s class teacher. We aim to keep you informed about every step of their educational journey.

Have a wonderful Easter break everyone and I very much look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 22nd April when we open our gates to welcome our children into the Summer term. Please note that children can now wear bottle green checked summer dresses if the weather permits. Enjoy those Easter eggs!
