Maths Teacher of the Year - Mrs Heavens 5.12.25

It’s officially December and the count down to the Christmas holidays is on! I know my Christmas tree at home is already up and our school one is soon to be too!

Congratulations!

First of all a HUGE and well deserved congratulations to our very own Mrs Sarah Heavens who last weekend won Maths Teacher of the year at the Northampton Education Awards. Sarah works tirelessly behind the scenes overseeing our maths and training other teachers/schools as a Maths Enigma club teacher. Well done Mrs Heavens and thank you for everything you do and continue to do for our school – we are lucky to have you.

Assembly – World Views and Tolerance

During the assembly, the children explored the idea that everyone sees the world differently and that our beliefs, experiences and the people around us all help shape how we understand life. We watched a clip of the song What a Wonderful World and discussed how the same song can make different people feel happy, inspired or even sad. We also demonstrated this by using four different pairs of ‘worldview glasses’ to show how children might react differently to the same event.

The message of the assembly was that everyone has a worldview, and learning about each other helps us to show kindness, respect and tolerance in our school community.

Debate Club

On Wednesday, our debating club, led by Mrs Lawther, attended an exciting debate event at Northampton Boys School. This was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to showcase their skills and they did brilliantly—debating complex issues against secondary-age students with confidence and clarity.

We are proud to share that two of our superstars won prizes in recognition of their outstanding debating abilities! Throughout the event, our pupils demonstrated our school values and showed remarkable confidence and teamwork.

Well done to all the children — you were amazing!

Reception & Blue Class visit to West Lodge

What a wonderful day Reception & Blue Class had at West lodge farm. The children had lots of fun writing a letter to Santa and then had a mission to help his sleigh fly, by using magical dusters!

We visited Santa who told all the children they were on the good list and they received a wonderful gift! 🎁 They even took part in their very own Nativity alongside some animal friends with a sprinkling of snow.

Well done Reception & Blue Class for being so brilliant and making us all proud of your behaviour!

Parliamentarian meeting

This week was my last of the term’s meeting with our brilliant Parliamentarians. Over the term, they have explored the new logo, helped us understand what makes them feel safe and unsafe, collected views on what helps them to learn and represented their classes superbly. Some of them are even helping with a special website project…!

Year 2 and Green Class Visit St Benedicts

Today, as part of our RE and World Views curriculum, the children from Year 2 and Green class visited St Benedicts Church. They learnt a lot about what a church is and why community and faiths can be important to people. This learning really built on from our assembly on Monday. The children took part in the Christmas Nativity and created a tableau. They also made a star with words of Christmas, including joy, peace, kindness and hope. We were all very impressed with the children’s respectful behaviour and their thirst for learning.

Finally, tomorrow is our annual Christmas Festive Fair – have you booked to see Santa? We are all very excited to see you there and really get into the Christmas spirit! I wonder who will win our famous hampers this year?

See you tomorrow.
