What have we been doing this week?

Wow’ tickets are in Book Bags today – 9.12.12

In Literacy this week we have been…….

  • Writing – Instructional Writing – How to make a breakfast for a Bog Baby. Thinking about Temporal Conjunctions and Imperative Verbs.
  • Reading – Key Words and Conjunctions within texts.
  • Speaking and Listening – How to use our voice to add expression when performing to an audience.
  • Handwriting – Finger spacing and being aware of what makes our work neat.
  • Sentence Construction – Capital Letters, Full Stops and Sentence Order.

At home you could……

  • Continue to practise weekly spellings.
  • Encourage your child to practise their line/s (if they chose to have a speaking part) for the Year 2 WOW!! . The louder the better!!!!


In Maths this week we have been…….

  • Using and applying the vocabulary related to Subtraction…
  • minus, less than, deduct, count back etc.
  • Using a variety of mathematical methods to solve subtraction problems.
  • Explaining how to work out a subtraction problem.

At home you could……

  • Can your child show you how to use a number line to calculate subtraction problems?
