Today in R. E we have learned about what Jewish people believe. We had lots of fun making a Jewish scroll called the Torah – we painted it with tea to make it look old, some of the children thought this was a bit funny. Some of the children tried on the skull cap.
We had a lovely time today visiting some furry and feathered friends in the sun. The children got to hold the smaller animals and learned a lot about the larger animals like the donkey and pony. Did you know that the bottom of a donkey’s hoof was called a frog?
Yellow Class had a lovely time this morning visiting Sally’s farm. They even saw some lambs that had just been born! Please talk to you children about the visit and look at the pictures together. Our science topic this term is: Do all animals come from an egg? Can you ask what ‘group’ the animals […]
Today the children in Yellow Class had a fun time celebrating sports relief by doing an obstacle course. We also rolled our painted eggs as an Easter tradition. Happy weekend and don’t forget to put your clocks forward on Sunday morning.
Today the children had a visit from some animals. There were some cute animals and some more unusual animals. The children in Yellow class wrote some questions for the humans to find out more about the animals. We discovered that a tortoise can live to about 120 years old and a chameleon’s tongue is half […]
Yellow and Red classes took a visit to Egypt recently. We leaned about where Egypt is and why they made pyramids. We wrote our names in hieroglyphics, we learned an Egyptian dance and even turned each other into mummies!!!
Some fantastic science learning took place at the Racecourse, as we conducted experiments to show gravity and air resistance. The children could explain that the ball with a parachute went slower because of the air underneath and could make predictions about which ball would travel faster down the slide. The children tested if the ball […]
Today in science we made wobbly men we needed to use a pushing force to lay them down and then gravity made them return to their starting position. We had a race with our wobbly men using the blowing force to move them. We have also made sculptures from clay using the pushing and pulling […]
This week Yellow Class have been investigating if they could melt ice quickly. We took the temperature of the ice using thermometers. We were surprised when the temperature dropped to -5*C when we added salt! . We were able to see that chocolate can be a liquid or a solid and this change is reversible.
What a busy couple of weeks we have had! The children made some lovely asteroid cakes last Friday and used their weighing and measuring skills to help them with this. Today they had a visit from the farm: we were so proud of the questions that they asked the farmer and how gentle they were […]
