Hello and welcome to our first blog of the academic year. We can’t believe that we are already at the start of our second half term.
Well, there have been quite a few changes since last term. First of all, we sadly had to say goodbye to Anita, the creator of Rainbow Room, as she retired at Easter. (Fortunately, she still helps out at school, so we get to see her quite regularly).
That means we get to say “hello” to Emma Young! Emma worked previously in the S.U in Green class and is now a higher level teaching assistant responsible for the children in the S.U who access the room. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Esther Atkinson and I work alongside Emma and I am responsible for the mainstream children.
The next big change is that we have moved two doors down! Although we are all settled in, there may still be a few minor changes made to the layout of the room to make all areas easily accessible to everyone. The old favourites are still there though- sand and water, the home corner and the workshop area. Thank you to everybody who donated items, we now have a fantastic range of dressing up clothes!
The children have enjoyed exploring the new room, especially as we have a calm corner – a resource that is now in every classroom.
We have maintained the ethos of the room, despite the changes, and are actively promoting the “Rainbow Room” person.
We hope you enjoy the photos of the children playing in the new room. This half term’s topics have included: Autumn, Roald Dahl and Halloween.
Please do not hesitate to contact either Emma or myself if you have any questions about our work in Rainbow Room.
