Today in Orange class we celebrated Chinese New Year. We made dragons as Chinese people believe these help to get rid of the bad, and lanterns which were red as this is the Chinese lucky colour. We tried fortune cookies, rice and noodles and some of us had a go with chopsticks!

The Gingerbread Man
We have started our new Talk 4 Writing topic today and our book is The Gingerbread Man. We read the story and then made our own gingerbread men and hoped they didn’t run away! If you have this book at home it would be really helpful for the children to hear at home too.
Bonfire Night
Today in Orange class we have been learning about Bonfire Night. We have thought about what we might see, hear, smell, touch and taste at bonfire night and written poems about this. We have also thought about how to keep ourselves safe when there are fireworks and then made our own rockets!
Homegrown Farm
We were very lucky to have Homegrown Farm visit us again yesterday. We saw alpacas, a cow, two emus, some rabbits and ducks! Orange class loved petting the animals and asking lots of interesting questions.
Sibling Day
Today in the SU it was sibling link morning. We got to enjoy games, Rainbow Room, Forest School and PE with Mark! All the children had a fantastic time with their siblings. Thank you to everyone that came.
Homegrown Farm Visit

Sally’s Allotment
As part of our new Learning Challenge, we are thinking about what happens to the food we eat. Orange class went to Sally’s allotment to look at where our food comes from. We saw peas, carrots, beetroot and lots more, can you remember anymore?
Abington Park
Orange class visited Abington Park on Friday as part of our learning challenge “What animals and plants thrive in Abington Park?”. We saw herons, their chicks and their nest, a squirrel, swan, pigeon, magpie, moorhen, coot, crow, duck and a goose! We also saw lots of plants and trees, including some beautiful bluebells.
Farm Visit
We were very lucky to have another visit from Homegrown Farm. Orange class saw rabbits called Smokey, Bandit and Frog. We then met 3 baby stick insects.
