Orange class went to Sywell Country Park last Friday to look at where water comes from as part of our Learning Challenge “How would we survive without water?” We looked at the reservoir and information boards. We also enjoyed some playing in the leaves in the sunshine!
This week we have been learning about the water cycle. We listened to a story called Little Cloud, and we learned that we cannot make water but that it is constantly being recycled. We also listened to a water cycle song on YouTube.
This week we started looking at where water comes from. The children suggested reservoir, rain, clouds and taps. Orange class then had to try to free some toys from ice. We tried using our warm hands, banging the ice with a spoon, warm water and salt to melt the ice to free the toys!
Welcome back to everyone after half term, it was lovely to see all the children looking refreshed. We have been busy with shape work and dance and music inclusion. Today orange class have enjoyed playing together as a band with the instruments we made ourselves. We enjoyed playing along to some pop music!
Yesterday we joined with our friends in Year 4 and enjoyed making scones. We weighed out the ingredients, and had to tickle the flour and butter together! We then enjoyed kneading the dough and using cutters to cut them out.
We are being joined every week by children from Year 4 for peer reading. Orange class really enjoy their friends coming to read stories to them and to share books.
